As you may know, teachers have a funny connection with their classroom. It's almost as if they live there or something! Well, Mr. Funk wanted to try something different in the classroom. He said, "It's a new year; let's do something new! Maybe we'll have a party!" So all of the tables were pushed to the side and the chairs were stacked on top of them.
"That should do it!" he said.
As he was moving the furniture, I was thinking to myself about all the adventures his students would have without tables and chairs. They could lay on the floor! Or play human foosball! The only think that would make this even better would be couches! (Maybe a snack bar...)
I helped him organize the mess of papers that were sitting on the counter for so long. (Look how nice the counter where I'm sitting is now!) Then we left. It wasn't a terribly exciting afternoon, but he was happy to get some of the work done.
In the car on the way back, he told me the WORST news! All of the tables and chairs would be back in place for the students in the new year. I had missed the party! They were only going to vacuum the floor. I was so disappointed!
He told me that he was sorry, that I had missed the party and that, as much as he liked the idea of couches and a snack bar he didn't think that it would happen. Bummer. However, he did say that we should be expecting a surprise some time in January and that he was very excited about it.
I wonder what it could be. Do you have any ideas? I know the purpose of a surprise is to be, well, surprised, but I want to know!
Thinking about what it could be,
